About All That Barbecue
The Grill at Culver Plaza
All That Barbecue opened in 2012 in Irvine, tucked behind 99 Ranch Market at Culver Plaza. Over a decade later, the grills are still hot and the dining room still fills up every weekend. With nearly 3,000 Yelp reviews and a 4.3-star rating on Google, it's one of the most popular Korean BBQ restaurants in Orange County.
How It Works
All That Barbecue is all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ. You sit at a table with a built-in charcoal grill, order as many plates of meat as you want, and cook everything yourself. The kitchen sends out raw proteins on plates and you grill them tableside, exactly how you like them.
Staff stays attentive throughout the meal. They swap out grill grates when they get too charred, clear empty plates, and refill your banchan (side dishes) without being asked. The table starts with a salad, kimchi, pickled radish, and other banchan before your first meat order even arrives.
Steamed egg, tofu soup, soybean soup, and corn cheese are all included with your meal. The steamed egg comes in individual portions, moist and silky. The tofu soup has just enough spice. Toward the end of the meal, you can order fried rice made on your grill with the leftover meat drippings. Regulars say don't skip it.
Pricing
Lunch runs $29.99 per person on weekdays (Monday through Friday, 11:30 AM to 3:00 PM). Dinner is $38.99 per person and is available after 3:00 PM on weekdays and all day on weekends.
The dinner menu is worth the upgrade. It unlocks 10 premium items that aren't available at lunch, including filet mignon, ribeye, flap tail steak, soy-marinated spare ribs, and baby octopus with soy sauce. You get a two-hour time limit, which is more than enough time to eat your fill.
One rule: uneaten meat left on the table may be charged, so order in rounds instead of all at once.
The Menu Names
The menu reads like no other Korean BBQ spot. Every protein has a creative name instead of a standard description. "Skinny-Dipping Cow" is thinly sliced brisket. "Don't Rib Me Off" is galbi (seasoned rib meat). "Speak Your Beefy Mind" is beef tongue. "Eight Firing Arms" is spicy baby octopus. "Umami Explosion" is marinated chuck flap tail. "Porky Paradise" is pork belly. "Angry Bird On Fire" is spicy chicken bulgogi.
The names are ridiculous. The food is serious.
What to Order
For beef, the brisket cuts are the core of the menu. "Skinny-Dipping Cow" (plain brisket), "Brisket On Fleek" (soy-marinated), and "Hot Cow-Ture" (spicy sauce) are all available at lunch. At dinner, add the "Simply Clean" (filet mignon) and "Umami Explosion" (chuck flap tail). Beef tongue grills quickly and comes out tender.
For pork, the "Porky Paradise" (plain pork belly) and "Smokey The Pig" (smoked pork belly) are solid picks. "Turnt Up Pork Belly" adds a spicy marinade.
For something different, try the "Surfin Shrimp" or "Eight Firing Arms" (spicy baby octopus). The octopus needs patience on the grill, but it's worth the wait.
Several items contain peanuts in the marinade, including the spicy brisket, spicy pork belly, spicy chicken, and spicy octopus. Let your server know about any allergies.
